A food security expert with more than 17 years of experience and particular expertise in institutional capacity building and in strengthening government/donor relations. Has conducted numerous assignments in Ethiopia for and with DPPA/DPPC, including: designing a national strategic emergency fund; developing a donor relations/resource mobilization strategy; strengthening the national food aid monitoring system; facilitating donor/government consultations to improve the annual appeal process; and guiding forward implementation of the Productive Safety Net Program. Recently led a lessons learned mission examining market interventions for USAID. For USAID, developed a strategy on disaster management with a livelihoods perspective, and designed a strategic toolkit linking livelihoods and conflict. Directed SC-UK’s emergency preparedness and response program in Ethiopia for four years.
