Julius played a key role in the development of household food economy analysis in the 1990s and has conducted numerous livelihood profiling and household economy assessments throughout Africa. Recently led a livelihoods zoning workshop for Afar Region and co-led training in household economy assessment for SC-UK. Co-led the SNNPR livelihoods zoning workshop, and provided technical assistance to baseline fieldwork by DPPA teams. Coauthor of the SC-UK field manual on the household economy approach. Co-directed three helicopter-assisted surveys in Ethiopia and Somaliland. Organized relief camp feeding and postfamine assessments in Ethiopia in 1973. Fluent in Amharic. Nationality: British
