Training

by Stephen Browne last modified 03/02/2008 20:13

Since 1998, we have conducted over 60 classroom and field-based training exercises in nearly 20 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, Central America, and Asia.  Our training materials, presentations and facilitation styles have evolved over the years to meet the needs of our expanding and diverse clientele.  Our staff  balance the technical rigor that is associated with HEA with innovative adult-learning approaches, maximizing how our participants absorb information.  We reinforce our classroom training sessions with practical exercises and field-based assessments.  After the data is collected, our training continues in the classroom, analyzing results and triangulating them with secondary data.  The outcome is that staff are able to carry out additional assessments and use the HEA data and framework to design, implement, monitor and evaluate their programs.

Circulating HEA Training Materials

FEG, in partnership with SC-UK, has developed and updated HEA practitioner and facilitator training materials for the Southern Africa Regional Hunger and Vulnerability Project (RHVP).  These materials will be used by government, NGO and international agency staff involved in vulnerability assessment and analysis in Southern Africa, particularly in national Vulnerability Assessment Committees (VACs) and the regional SADC-RVAC. They will also be used for courses at a “Regional Centre of Excellence”, which will be housed within an academic institution in South Africa.
