FEG’s dedication to poverty alleviation is apparent in every aspect of their work.  Over the years FEG has made significant contributions in policy development and advising, scenario modeling and early warning and integrating livelihoods analysis across the spectrum of development and humanitarian sectors.  From the threat of avian influenza and food insecurity to refugee camp and post-war livelihoods our research tells rich and nuanced story of resources, assets, environment and how people's livelihoods are connected with each.  Our quantitative livelihoods data provides a benchmark to measure change at the household level, be it from an intervention or a shock.

Livelihoods Research for Action

Poverty, conflict and social injustice has plagued the developing world for decades and despite the efforts of host governments, donors, international development institutions and community leaders, achievements to offset this imbalance is shadowed by increasing disparities.  Public awareness to current and emerging issues in the developing world has been put into the spotlight as philanthropist, celebrities and the international development community has loudly voiced the need to address poverty in the developing world.  Research must build on this momentum and contribute to the dialogue to inform and guide current and future interventions.
